Connect at SEMICON Europa 2015 for the Future of Electronics; Opens Tomorrow

DRESDEN, Germany ─ 5 October 2015 ─ SEMICON Europa 2015, opening tomorrow in Dresden, will explore R&D funding, next-generation fab requirements, and partnership opportunities ─ connecting European and global semiconductor manufacturers, fabless companies, and fab suppliers for business opportunities and collaboration.  SEMICON Europa (October 6-8) is the leading exhibition and conference dedicated to the future of electronics in Europe.  More than 350 exhibitors will showcase the latest equipment, materials, software and solutions while more than 250 speakers will present information on the latest trends, technologies, processes and techniques in electronic applications, design and manufacturing. Over 5,000 visitors from 60 countries are expected to attend.

Companies such as Intel, Microsoft, Infineon, STMicroelectronics, GlobalFoundries, Bosch, ABB, ASML, Applied Materials and SOITEC will present technology developments, strategies and requirements in presentations and on the exposition floor.

With the European Commission mobilizing a total investment of € 100 billion for the development of the industry, semiconductor manufacturers are in a position to significantly expand market share and capacities in new markets. The European Commission aims to improve the availability of innovative technologies in the field of micro- and nanoelectronics for key European industries and expand the supply chains. Experts from both the industry and research institutions will discuss how the current industrial strategy (10/100/20) of the European Commission can be implemented.

SEMI supports this initiative with new themes and formats in the exhibition program. For the first time, SEMICON Europa 2015 offers special sessions and packages on high-growth rate areas ─ the application of microelectronics in automotive industry, medical engineering and modern communication technologies.

Processes, materials and equipment for the semiconductor industry are again at the focus of SEMICON Europa 2015 but the exhibition program was expanded to include numerous additional topics, such as Imaging, Low Power, Power Electronics and Advanced Packaging.

SEMICON Europa is again co-located with Plastic Electronics 2015 which covers the field of large-scale and organic electronics, with emphasis on printed, flexible, organic and large area electronics and its convergence with conventional semiconductor manufacturing.
