Heinz Kundert Receives IC Industry Award for Leadership

Dresden, Germany — October 12, 2011 — The “IC Industry Award for Excellence: Individual” was presented today to Heinz Kundert, president of SEMI Europe, at SEMICON Europa 2011 in Dresden. Kundert has worked in the semiconductor industry for over 20 years, including executive positions at SEMI, Balzers and Unaxis.

“As president of SEMI Europe for six years, Kundert has focused on strengthening the European-based semiconductor industry by providing a collective industry voice to enhance innovation and support manufacturing,” said David Ridsdale, editor-in-chief, EuroAsia Semiconductor. “Kundert has been a tireless advocate for supportive government policies, supply chain collaboration and other issues critical to the future of high-tech manufacturing and industry growth in Europe. His work has gained him the respect and support of SEMI members, numerous organizations and industry bodies throughout Europe. In 2008, Kundert led the SEMI initiative to develop and carry key messages to the EU-- which contributed to the establishment of the European Commission Key Enabling Technologies (KET) High-Level Group.”

The IC Industry Awards, sponsored by EuroAsia Semiconductor, are a recognised platform that allows the semiconductor industry to evaluate the people, products and practices serving this industry. The IC Industry Awards remind us how important the people in the microelectronic industry are, especially the ones who drive it forward with their technical expertise and customer-oriented perspectives.

"While I am honored to receive this award, I believe that it is a reflection of all the work that our regional advisory board, special interest groups, and many volunteer committees do to support the micro and nano-electronics industry in Europe," said Kundert.
